I'm going to York next weekend but I left booking my train tickets too late so I have no seat reservations. Last time I had to stand as far as Peterborough I was not a happy bunny so I would rather avoid that. Apparently there are non-reservable seats on trains which is clearly where I want to be before other people. Does anyone know if they are always in the same place and if so where they are on GNER trains? Current Mood: anxious |

Fabulous food
This is our dinner from tonight. It was delicious. I have decided to use lj as a database of dinners. Then when we're shopping it'll be easier to think of things to have. Current Mood: tired |

Reports are hard to write, especially when you haven't written one since school. I think they were hard to write then as well but they probably didn't take as long to write as I had more motivation then. And fewer procrastination tools... Current Mood: bored |

A little story
I am going to invite the creator of Excel to the library on the pretext of a party to say thanks for a great program. Then I shall take them up to the roof and push them off. Then i shall feel better. The End. Current Mood: stressed |

football
I hate watching football. It's so stressful. Everytime the opposition have the ball in our half I get butterflies in my tummy and start to shake slightly. It's dire. And it's looking more and more like penalties. I just can't take it anymore... I should have gone shopping. Current Mood: stressed |

I'm meant to be revising for a weird exam called General Historical Questions. They ask strange questions that are just crying out for waffly answers but we had a lecture about it yesterday and were told it is not a General Historical Bullshitting exam. My housemates have finished and have gone on a day-trip somewhere. I want to go on a day-trip and I do not want to have to go through all my notes from the past three years which was one of the bits of advice on how to prepare. We were also told to read the paper so I think I'll go buy one of those and do the crossword and Sudoku instead. Current Mood: bored |

Sympahies to scaryjeff
I totally sympathise with scaryjeff on the builder front. I've been lying in bed for the last three days with a particularly nasty tummy bug and have not been allowed to rest properly due to builders. On Tuesday a skip was delivered at 8 to our neighbours on one side. The following morning some builders started putting skaffolding up at 7 in the house on the other side. Thursday morning at 7.30 saw the arrival of an extremely noisy concrete lorry and we've had drilling everyday throughout the day. Grr! To make things worse I got up today and discovered that I appear not to have saved half the work I did on my dissertation last week. How can I have managed this? I'm sure it was the evil computer's doing. Not a good few days all things considered. It's got to get better from here on. Current Mood: depressedCurrent Music: Coldplay - X & Y |

Interview
I have been called for interview for one of the library graduate traineeships. It's in Cambridge on Thursday. I'm pretty much terrified as it's the first interview since my disastrous interview at Cambridge 3 years ago. Here's hoping it goes better than that! Current Mood: anxious |

The Research Gig
I went to a gig in Fibbers last night. I had a fantastic time. The first band was "The Artist and the Title". They were quite unusual and also very talented. I enjoyed it but there were no words so it got a little boring. The main support band were "Mono Taxi" who were fun and bouncy and also French. They were ok but not particularly memorable. The Research were also fun and bouncy and were really enthusiastic which helped a lot. Enough procrastination, back to work. Actually that should be time to start... Current Mood: cheerful |

I handed in the first draft of my dissertation yesterday. There is now no need to think about it for at least 6 weeks as I won't get it back til then. I'm not planning on thinking about it for at least thirteen or fourteen weeks as it the final draft is not due in until sometime after Easter. Also I have no work until after Tuesday as my tutor is giving us lectures instead of seminars for the first week. I'm sure once Tuesday comes round I'll think of reasons why I don't have to work then either :-) Current Mood: cheerful |

driving test
I had a driving test yesterday and I passed. Woo! Yay! I didn't tell anybody about it as it was horrible telling everyone last time that I'd failed. I thought I might have failed before I'd even left the building as I got two questions wrong! Then I thought I was doing something wrong every time I turned right as I thought he was marking something down each time. Then half way through the test he closed his folder and I couldn't decide whether I'd already failed or he'd decided I was competent. I'm so glad it's done and I don't have to worry about trying to coordinate another test for when I'm at home. :-) Current Mood: bouncyCurrent Music: Coldplay - Clocks |

assessment
I just went to my supervisor meeting. I didn't do very well this term. I did quite well in my seminars - unusual for me - but my written work was "week" (I think she meant "weak"). The fact that she spelt it wrong did make me feel a bit better. In my defence I didn't try very hard and felt very stressed the week of the essay and went home for the weekend so it's not so bad. My supervisor was quite encouraging and sauid not to worry so I don't intend to! On a happier note I went ice-skating again with my boyfriend and was much better than last time although I did fall over today! Also we're going out for a meal tonight so yay! |

live journal
Hey, I've just set this up and it was remarkably easy even for someone as clueless as me. I haven't got anything else to say except i'm sick. I'm going home for a lemsip. |
